Ilse Jacobsen invests in a classic turned upside down

In the last part of this season’s, ”Løvens Hule” on DR1, Ilse Jacobsen invested in something as ordinary as clothes pegs.

To turn a simple product upside down, redesign and reinvent it, is something Ilse Jacobsen knows all about. “Great products are often created with a foundation of something existing, added with a twist that creates value. That is why this simple product appeals to me.”

The clothes pegs are designed by the experienced advertising expert, Poul Christensen. The unique about these pegs, is the durability and function of them. The pegs do not break, rust or come off onto the clothes, which are some of the regular problems experienced with regular pegs of wood and plastic. The pegs are made to last and to hold on to the clothes on the clothes-dryer.

Ilse Jacobsen states the following about her investment in the company: “I really like how you, as a dedicated entrepreneur, can work hard to move on and not be locked in the first line of business you have chosen. Poul, whom I have invested in, is an experienced advertising expert. The fact that he expands his business by turning something traditional upside down and moves out of his comfort zone makes a perfect match for how I work. There are several mutual references from my own values to this investment and that is why I obviously had to invest in Poul and his idea.

It was equally important to Ilse to give financial support to help Poul take the next step. Ilse herself started from the bottom and clearly remembers how it was. A part from the investment she made in the company, she also chose to give the ‘pegs man’ financial support to get a mould developed.

Values, such as courage, passion and authenticity, have been the key to success for the entrepreneur, Ilse Jacobsen. These core values are still the building blocks for the 22-year-old successful concern, ILSE JACOBSEN HORNBÆK, which she brings with her into the new collaboration.
